Default leaking trans. cover

Hi Guys
I have a 86, with a R700 trans. Dead center front the cover is leaking. I took it all apart and replaced the Gasket with sealer. The dam thing is still dipping. My question is there are only three bolts in the front. I want to drill and tap another hole. Does anybody know if I drill a hole in th front middle will I hit anything in side the trans?

You shouldn't need sealer when you use a gasket on a tranny pan. Possibly your bolts had at one time been tightened too much and warped the pan. The pan may need to be removed and pounded straight. The pan shouldn't need another bolt tapped. There are hundreds of thousands of 700R4 without extra bolts to stop leaking. Are you sure your leakage isn't from the pump gasket or the converter seal?

yes to all of the above...I would first look to see that it is actually leaking from the pan.
Have you removed the inspection cover to see if it is actually coming from the front seal or ?? I haven' t ever needed to use sealer on the pan or gasket. Is the pan bent/damaged that would cause it not to seal ?
