Glue for carpet
I am installing carpet in my 85. What glue do you recomened for this. I already tried the 3m sprayheavy duty. Well, out in the sun the material is just gooey and falling off. Any suggestions?
Thanks
When you read the directions for using the glue, they will tell you to coat both surfaces and let them dry before assembling. This is good advice, but it makes alignment a one-shot deal.
Instead, I would suggest coating the carpet only and letting it dry for 30 minutes or so. It should be pretty dry, not gooey at all. Put the carpet in place and position it. When you are satisfied that you have it where you want it, lift one edge and apply some glue to the fiberglass. Let it dry and press the carpet into place. A roller helps.
Now, the carpet can't move and you can glue the remainder easily.
You probably won't be able to drive the car for a couple of weeks without getting high.
