Got you...... I have been having some issues getting the LS7 roller hydraulic lifters adjusted correctly. They had been bleeding down once you shut off the engine. They are fine when running. At one point, I could use one finger and press down on the push rod and have it depress 1/4". So after many hassles to get them adjusted, I went one more step. I had bought a old tin SB valve cover several years ago at a local wrecking yard. I cut off the top 1/3 to get to the valves on another Chevy and adjust them when running. This would not easily fit my heads on the Corvette....so I cut them in half again. Worked great....one half (1/3) on one head and the other 1/3 on the other head. I was able to run the engine without loss of oil going over the gaskets on the head and running down onto the exhaust manifold. I had glued a rubber gasket on the old tin covers and they sealed nicely against the gaskets on the heads. Pictures...

INSTALLED ON THE HEAD.....
I was able to get to all the roller rockers when the engine was running to be sure the adjustments were good and was also able to double check that each rocker was getting oil. Just doing my best to be GREEN and recycle old parts into useful items.
I did something similar, took an old valve cover, cut the top out to access the rocker nuts. Had to add a shield to control oil splash. Looks ugly as sin but works like a charm.
