Update: My vette is back!
Well, I think I have fixed the 'no-start' issue I was having with my '93. I also fixed the bad intake oil leaks I had at the front and back 'china walls' (used 'The Right Stuff' this time), installed a new fuel filter (what a PITA 
), a new serpentine belt and cleaned up the oil mess that the intake leak had been making.
I'm so happy to have it back, I haven't been able to drive a vette for probably more than a month. I was going through withdrawals, lol

I did the vent mod to my opti as described in the Corvette Fever article, except I bought an already vented opti cap instead of modifying an early opti cap. I also bought the '96 C4 opti vacuum harness from GM as recommended by the article.
Here is the new, replacement opti ready to be installed. I also put black RTV around the whole cap on both seals to make sure it stays sealed (pic was taken before I put the RTV on). It is modified with the vacuum hose installed:
It turned out that the optical portion of my opti was going bad (probably from the heat from not being actively vented) so I got a whole new opti base for free under warranty.
