depends on the quality but they need high temps to be efficient.
Unless you are used to brake hard over 100 mph, forget it.

I have them on several cars. Like them, no noise, little dust. Never had the need to heat them up to get them to work. I use the bendix c2

Been running them with my C4 / C5 brake swap, like them a lot. Very low dust, and very usable on the street. Also ran them on my C5, same results. Good deal on the set from GM.

I also run them on the street, they work fine. I swapped over when I got tired of fighting break dust on my chrome rims.

I've been using AC Delco ceramics for a few years. Like everyone else says, barely any brake dust and no noise. They are great for street use.

I've used Hawk ceramics for over 5 years and love 'em. No track use, only street.

+1 for Hawk ceramics...they are on both my Vette and Z-28 with C5 conversions, and I do treat them like crap up and down Mt. Lemmon, and they are just fine....

I like em on my 94
They do need a little heat to perform their best and another bonus is they produce much less dust and it is a lighter color

Oh yeah mine are Bendix

I used EBC Red Stuff on a previous car and really liked them. Had to add anti-squeak stuff though, because at first they were ear-shattering. I might use them again when my front pads wear out.

This is the pad you should look at.

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I have Hawk's ceramics, and I have to say they are awesome! Low dust and also have a lot of grab to them. One of my favorite upgrades on my car.
