I did some driving around with Datamaster recording both engine and transmission data today. It's pretty interesting that the computer is sent information like TC slip and tranny fluid temp, and "Heated Windshield" ?!??! What's this heated windshield all about??
From these readings I can tell that my torque converter is working properly. At idle, the slipage of the TC is almost exactly the rpm of the engine (usually 1 or 2 rpm's off). It measures this probably by just comparing the engine rpm vs the rpm of the input shaft of the tranny.
