I am thinking of installing a shift kit i recieved with the car when I purchased it on my auto for more aggressive shifts. My question is will I be stressing my 15 year old tranny and drivetrain too much?(108,000 miles)
Slow easy shifts are like letting the clutch out very slowly with all shifts between gears and using friction disk material to do so. Quick shifts are like letting the clutch out fast between gears and that uses very little material. Fast, firm shifts should be easiest on the materials.
Your '94 has the 4l60E trans... you can change shift firmness/feel and the shift speed/rpm that it changes gears...by "tuning"/programming the ECM/PCM. I don't think I've seen a actual "shift kit" for a electronic tranny because it's computer controlled. The other benefit would be in the engine performance itself... by getting a good "performance tuned" ECM

Transgo makes a good one. I have one in my 98 WS6 and shifts nice and firm and "barks" the tires at about 3/4 throttle on the 1-2 shift.

Thanks As I said I've never heard of one for a electronic tranny. Years ago I had done some installs on T350s-400s and 700R4s and they worked great. I've had my ECM on my '96 tuned and i like what it's done for engine performance and the trans shift firmness at WOT was improved. You've got my interest now though...I'll be on some of the performance websites this week tro see what's out there for my '96. Thanks Again
