Default New Belt--Lost Boost!!

I called Pro-Charger to get the right belt number and they told me Gates K060956.

When I put it on I only could get about 4or5 lbs of boost.

I would get about 7lbs with my old belt but it was starting to split.

My old belt was a NAPA Micro V AT 25-060956.

I'm not sure what the circumference is on the NAPA, their closed, but the Gates states it is 96 1/8

I have a 93 Vette LT1.

Anyone have a better belt idea that might be just a little smaller in circumference?

I knew something wasn't right because it went on to easy.

first things first.....verify that you got the right belt. I would check the stamped number on the belt to the number on the box that it came in. Sometimes things get switched around when people are comparing belts at the store and what not.

Next I would compare the new belt with your old belt. They should be the same length. If not then you need to get the proper lenght belt.

Good luck.

The part number tells you the belt length.

K060956
K - Gates designation for serpentine belt
06 - 6 rib belt
956 - 95.6 inches in length

If you are looking for a slightly shorter belt in the same applications, look for a K060951, or K060948. You will catch on quickly as to what is needed.

And as an aside, different manufacturer's belt stretch differently, so possibly the Gates belt is stretching more than the previous belt.

I work for one of the autoparts chain stores, we sell gates belts. AKSracing is on track with the part number, but the numbers don't correlate to exact measurments. For example:

K050345 is 34.25 inches in length, not 34.5.
K060840 is 84.5 inches long, not 84.

Most of the time, the part number is close but most of them aren't exactly on the money. Read the card board wrap that is on the belts the next time you are in a parts store, the exact length of the belt is on the back.

K060950 is 95 5/8 in length. I dont' have a K060956 to look at, so I can't verify the exact length on that one.
