Default LT1 Procharger Question!

I have a 93 vette LT1 I was getting about 7 lbs of boost or so.

I know for a fact it was on the far side of the numeral 5 on my Auto Meter boost gauge.
I changed my belt, started splitting, and that's when I noticed I was only getting around 4 to 4.5 lbs of boost.

I called Pro Charger and they gave me another Gates belt number that was 5/8 smaller in circumference and I thought for sure that was the problem but it's still the same.

I then thought about the air cleaner and removed it but that didn't help either.

I don't know how much heat effects the boost but it was 85 this evening.

I guess I'll call Pro Charger again tomorrow and see what they say/

I'm just curious. What do people with my set-up get for boost?

It's a P1SC with a stock 3.6" pulley.

I used to see about 6 psi with my stock setup and then went to a smaller pulley and saw less boost (more belt slip). Any additional drag on the belt will cause slip at the crank pulley--very little belt wrap on the crank pulley. There are some fixes out there for this condition, just need to do a search.

It more than likely is from belt slippage, look for black dust on the blower. A new belt will stretch and needs to be retightened after the first half an hour to an hour of use. If at all possible, going wipe open throttle during belt break in should not be done. Why? Once a belt slips it is more prone to slippage.

I'd also check all of your plumbing connections for the possibility of a boost leak. Bob

Herb-

I've gone through a number of blown cars and the one problem always seemed to be the stock pulley itself! The way the pulley is "cut" can cause slippage (not enough surface contact between the belt and the tread on the belt).

Contact Greg at Blowerworks and pick up a pulley set from him. I am currently seeing 8-9psi of boost with his head unit pulley (of course, i also have an auto-tensioner on the stock vortech bracket and an added idler to promote better belt wrap).

***edit****

the peaks and valleys are sometimes off on pulleys.

Hi Guys - my slotted 'UltraGrip' may solve your problem and if that doesn't I offer a ProCharger LT1/LT4 bracket with auto belt tensioner and 8 rib drive.

Hey.

Do a throrough double check on how you route the belt on all of the idler pulleys. I just finished a water pump and I put my belt back on. I racall there are a couple of ways you can route the idler near the procharger and the one near the alternator underneath and they look right.

When I did it, it seems like the belt was a lot looser and tensioner had more range than when it came ioff. I grabbed to routing diagram and slowly traced and viola rerouted and all was as good as before.

My Gates belt is K06-0956 ATI says 96 and 1/8th or 2441.6 metric
