Default Power Steering Hard to Turn

My 95' Leaving this morning steering wheel hard to turn at low speeds like something grabing.Could it be the seals in the Rack and Pinion getting hard because it seems to get better when it warms up.

It has 70K Mi. on it....No Leaks

Some say the is 'morning sickness' for the rack, meaning you will need a replacement rack very soon. Mine seemed to do that about two years ago. I changed the fluid and it never happened again.

Mine started getting "morning sickness" about 5 years ago. I sucked out about a 1/2 quart and added a botlle of the Lucas additive. Its been perfect ever since.

I just did the Lucas on a hard to turn and grabbing rack. Within seconds you would have thought I had a new rack. It worked wonders. I sucked out all the old fluid first. It was like dirty water with no thickness to it. Lucas is very heavy when putting in. I would try it before anything else.

OK, so I am new to this. I just purchased a 1995, 30 years old, with only 15,000 miles. Once I get plates I will get new tires. However, I noticed the power steering is really hard, and from what I have read in this forum the solution seems to be Lucas Stop Leak.
I don't have any leaks. Is there a different Lucas additive that I should use? Thanks for your help.

The power assist on a C4 is not like cars that you can turn the wheel from left to right limits with your pinky. It does take more effort then you may be use to.

Do you think I should add some of the Lucas product as a preventative measure?

is it noisy too? you say it isn't leaking, but you didn't say if the level was low, if it isn't low, i wouldn't add anything to it.

if the fluid in it has been there for an unknown amount of time, maybe you'd want to drain it out - or use a pump to empty most of it through the reservoir - and replace it w clean fluid.

As far as I know it is the original fluid-30 years old. I think I will use a turkey baster to empty the reservoir and refill it with fresh. If I do this several times I think I will be able to replace all of the fluid.

yes, diluting it like that is a good first start - and the only way to get fluid out of the rack without opening up stuff you dont want to open unless you have to
