The SR was definitely part of it, though I'm using stock ported heads with large valves as well. When I swapped them I put on 1094 thinner head gaskets and 1.6 rockers too.

Have fun! I corrected a few broken links. I didn't get to dyno the car before it broke a ring at my last track event. Getting in the 12's was nice, much stronger power then stock!
It was the stock long block, ported stock 113 heads, untouched short block with the '88 cam. I did some limited testing on shift points at the drag track. It was difficult to get in enough runs to really narrow it down.
Are you lookin to rebuild? I have a 355 and i have a 224-230 mid 500 lift cam to put in it....also lookin for some heads like AFRs. with that said would you say i should go ahead and do the port work to open everthing up on the SR or leave it stock?
---i didnt see you had a stock cam wow. so if you gained from portin the SR i guess i should see better performance with my setup if i port mine...

Yes I'm rebuilding it over the winter. The block was bored this week.
I would say with that combo you'd want to port it for more high RPM flow. That duration is pushing the RPM band up, the AFR's will flow there, so the intake must keep up. The base needed the most help. Check TGO too for porting results.
did you stud the plenum? I see a few nuts in the plenum for the runners....what did you do and how did you do it? Im lookin to find the best way to mod the SR for installation
This SR had some stripped threads. I simply drilled the bad ones out and used bolts. I staked the nuts and used locktite, plus lock washers. Be aware of the risk from a nut going down the intake. I "nut and bolt" the car quite a lot and they are easy to check.
Thats a LOT of work ... I know , I did a tuned port gasket match and , counting the throttle body , theres 41 holes to " massage " , I couldnt afford to have paid a buck an hour for the time I spent breathing aluminum dust and then after that , waiting for some sensation to return to my hand .... good vibrations ....
