Default Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement Question

Hey everyone,
Ive been looking around and my SM does not clarify the tools needed for the hub replacment. I have an 85 and im trying to figure out what size Torx socket is needed to remove the main hub. If anyone can remember what size they used that would be great, that way i can just buy one socket! Any other advice would be appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance!

Brian

I think it was a T25 but it has been 2 years or more
Do a search and enable archived threads

Which I just did and it is a T55

The torx are a T55. The spindle nut is 36 MM.

Bingo. Also, I did mine just fine without removing the half shafts. You just have to rotate them between removing the 3 T55 bolts, as you can only get to them when the outboard U-joint is in a certain position. Probably easier than removing them...

Sonds like a great excuse to buy the whole set to me?

One of them "wobbler" extensions helps out as well.
Kind of like a universial joint for sockets
Two "wobblers" together work great for the top TORX bolt on the backside.

Don't need to remove the half-shafts. But good time to inspect U-joints

Piece of cake. Do not remove half shafts. First one probably two hour job, second 30-45 minute. Clean with wire brush and grease slip joints.

You will be fine

Dealer or GMPartsDirect should have them. Did you give your dealer the part number and they still could not find it?
