On top...air pump check valve for the cats, it makes sure the air only flows in one direction.
Below...knock sensor.
Thankyou! Love these forums , can always reply on someone helping you out quickly!
It is the knock sensor I was referring to btw.
I had a hunch that was what it was, but my Haynes manual helpfully only mentions the location of the one on the right hand bank and then states there is another one but doesn't say where...
I noticed it was there as there was no wire attached to it so I had a hunt around and found the green/white wire hanging around off the harness. I guess having one disconnected doesn't trigger a CEL...
that is the aux fan switch. it comes on with temp.
the knock sensor is in the block drain fitting just within an inch or so of the oil pan. and it is on the right side by the starter.
yeah that looks like a fan sensor, being it is in the head.
rather it turns the fan on and off, or sends the info to the dash. I cant remember which is which and what years have what.
The knock sensor is usually in the block, on the passenger side.
Though doubt it being plugged/unplugged will ever make much difference here! Temp today in my town was 64 degrees, which qualifies as a nice summers day....
So like I said, No cooling issues on mine, primary fan runs as it should around 223 or wherever, and temp drops then, so it never gets hot enough to need aux in any case... I actually didn't know there was an aux fan until today... :o
Only time I can see it running is if a head gasket fails or something...
