Thats about right. Someone might do it cheaper, but not much. The job is doable by yourself but is a pain in the ***. It took me three days, about 6-8 hrs total on my 89. I had to walk away several times, and only threw 3 flashlights. A lot of bad words and it was done.
Might as well jump in there and work on them if you are going to drive them. A whole lot cheaper!
I've done several in my shop. They're not that bad. If you haven't done it before get a factory shop manual or an Alldata print out. Take your time and don't force anything.
Alldata says 5.0 hrs. Warranty time is 2.5. Hope that helps.
I say BS on those times. It took me two days to do it last week and I imagine I could do it in 8-10 hours the next time but 2.5 hours is about enough time to install a heater core bypass!
I realize nobody is personally claiming that it can be done that fast but it is silly that the time is so short.
I have to replace the heater core in my 93 coupe. I've seen how you can do it the fast way, where you take the passenger seat out and lay on your back and r&r the heater core from the bottom without removing the dash . I need to know if doing it the fast way is possible on a 93 or was that only for other year corvettes? Thanks Tim
