The gas pedal in my '86 is stiff. There's no easing my foot into it. When I give it the gas, it moves abruptly. When I move the throttle body open by hand I can not get it to stick.
The throttle is returning all the way to the stop at idle. I disconnected the throttle cable and determined it's not binding internally. Also, the gas pedal pivot moves freely.
Someone told me the busings or butterfly shaft inside the throttle body might be causing the sticky throttle.
I use a product called Dri-Slide to lube the control cables and lever pivots on my motorcycles. It forms a dry film that lubricates. Is it safe to use this product on the inside of the throttle body?
Did you check for looseness in the butterfly shaft bushings? if the shaft has any play it will bind on light acceleration. It is very common especially if you still have the stock TB.
