Sensor?

Have not been around for a while but that just means my ’89 has been running great. Until yesterday. What is the sensor plug on the driver’s side of the engine, in the head between the first two spark plugs on that side? The tip broke off and was dangling by the wire, my gauges seem to work. Something do with the cooling fans since the car started to overheat yesterday?

On an '98 that is the auxiliary fan switch. It wouldn't effect the main cooling fan if you have stock fan wiring.
