I finally got my new 383 fired yesterday and eveything seemed to be going well until one of the fusible links behind the battery started to melt.
If you look behind the battery there's a power distribution stud with a big main power cable and several orange fusible links. One of the 20 AMP fusible links started melting on the power side of the fuse, but the fuse never blew.
At this point I haven't a good idea as to where it goes. It happened roughly a few minutes after the electric fans kicked on but until I follow the wire I don't know. Can someone explain where the fan relays are on a 91? This shop manual is good for somethings but it lacks pictures to where things are.
So does anyone have any good ideas?
Bad ground?
Oh, and the kicker is - I took that fusible link off and the car ran fine. I tested eveything except the ride control and it all worked - inlcuding the electric fans.
Any help or advice would be great.
thanks!

Ok, I found the relays. And as it turns out it was one of the fans that was cooking the fusible link. I had accidentally stuffed a piece of wiring harness (that got extended from adding the ProCharger) into one of the fans. It cooked and took a few things with it. SO... one trip to the part counter and I'll be back in business.
Get togethers sound fun. I guess I should start watch the N.E. Section closer. Hopefully this year I'll make it up to Epping for a little fun :)
