my injector stuck open, disaster averted
of the exhaust system installed were the exhaust manifolds and the driver's side catalytic converter). I only ran it long enough to verify that the oil pressure came up; then I shut it down. I disconnected the battery and prepared to let it set for another week. So far, so good. This, the weekend of the Fourth of July, I climbed underneath the car to continue the exhaust install. Dripping out of the converter was a liquid not unlike gasoline, but like gasoline. Thinking that it could only be gasoline, I checked the dipstick, the level was up almost the entire length of the dipstick.
This had to be fuel dilution. I pulled the injector manifold and sure enough the last injector on the driver's side was drip, drip, drip. I pulled the plug on the pan and removed the oil filter; at least three gallons of oil mixed with gas drained out.
Unexpected Fourth of July fireworks were averted.
