Default Damaged Floor Repair

I found a damaged area near the jack point on my 94. Time to fix so rain stays out. Damage was not large but was on a corner and edge of the drivers floor. Here are some pictures of the repair for those who need to do the same.

Step 1 Used a 50 grit disc on my drill to rough up the area for the repair. I also pulled the carpet back and placed some metal duct tape on the inside to give the repair something to stick to and keep the interior from smelling like resin.

I used SMC compatible resin and Fiberglass cloth.

Step 2 Clean the area with solvent. Mix the resin according to the directions on the can. NOTE: It only took about 1 oz. for the first application. I mixed up three oz and ended up throwing about 2/3 of it away. Mix small batches if you are going to apply several coats.

Step 3 Coat the area with resin with a throw away brush, apply the glass cloth and liberally soak the glass cloth with resin making sure you get all the air bubbles out. Once soaked the cloth lays right down.

Step 4 After allowing about an hour to dry you can sand any uneven areas or drips and apply additional coats.

This process was a lot easier than I thought. It took longer to jack the car and swipe a measuring spoon and some foil cups from the kitchen than the first repair coat.

Photos are attached in my Photobucket.
