I have the SLP 1 3/4" Shorty Headers and no matter what I do I can't seem to get the bolts to stay tight. I lost one yesterday, the #3 cylinder bolt that holds the AC/Alternator bracket supports to the head.
Is anyone else using the SLP Shorty's and a locking bolt set? If so, what brand, part no, etc.
Like they say, get the Stage 8 locking bolts. They physically cannot back out. Problem solved. :)
Edit: Forgot to mention that the set that I got wasn't a "custom" set, so I couldn't use them on the A/C bracket or dipstick bolts. I don't think they make a set that addresses those particular bolts. I would think that if you locktite the top nut holding the bracket on and tighten real well, then the bolt itself couldn't possibly turn.
Step one: get a new gasket and soak it for an hour in water Step two: let the car fully heat up and cool down and retorque Step three: repeat step two. You can also do what I did and Safety-wire the bolts after the third retorque ( I'm an aircraft mechanic so I'm kinda **** about bolts backing out :D ) :chevy :seeya
