Can an 1985 c4 master cylinder casue the Front brakes to pull left, I have replaced the master cylinder,
also both calipers. I dont know if it was pulling before I replaced them. I had just bought the car and master went bad and locked up both sides.
The drivers side brake will lock up if I stomp the brake but the right will not , I replace the right caliper again , thinking it was a bad caliper but it did not help I bled both side mutilple times, didnt help
That's an odd problem you have there. The calipers you put on were they used? If they were new along with new pads you shouldn't have a problem with it pulling to the right. Nope the master cylinder wouldn't make the car pull in either direction. You might want to have the front end aligned. I assume your rotors and wheel bearing hubs are good, but they wouldn't cause a pull to the right condition. I'd start with a front end alignment.
If you stab the brake pedal well, each caliper isn't going to work exactly the same. One will lock before the other 3.
Have you done a complete flush of the brake fluid? You may have a small piece of contaminant or debris in a line that is preventing the right amount of fluid pressure from reaching the caliper. Use a good grade of DOT3 fluid. Run new fluid through until clear fluid comes out from each of the 4 calipers. Should take about 3/4 of a quart.
You might also install new brake line hoses. One hose could be weak and expanding as pressure is applied. Old rubber hoses will deteriorate after time and it can be hard to tell simply by looking at them.
Bad wheel alignment may be an issue but you should feel the car pulling to the same side as you drive.
I had a complete front end rebuild, rotor, hubs are good. Calipers are new, Pads are new.Its pulling to the left ( drivers side). It would seem to me that a hydraulic system would be the same pressure on both sides if no air was in the line, or line blockage, but not front to back, because its biased.
I think i have wierd luck, I always end up with problems no one seems to have.
I will replace the rubber lines.
I will try to completely flush, I have completed this once, but maybe missed something, I will take the lines loose and blow them out with air.
C4cruiser is right on it should pull all the time braking or no braking.
Sometimes if the caster angle isn't right it can pull when braking and not pull when just driving. Caster angle, if it's off is that wheel and tire is ahead of the other. And when braking it's like the leader of the 2, and will go to the left if that's the side with the caster angle not properly set right.
It was only a thought on the front end alignment and the pulling when braking. This very thing happened to me in the past with another car I had. Back to the alignment shop I went until they got the caster right and after a few test drives it didn't pull anymore when braking. I know it sounds weird, but that's what took care of my car. And what I said here is how it was explainded to me 20 some years ago.

I had a Mechanic tell me what C4crusier said, He told me that the inside of the brake line gets old a swells up preventing the proper amount of pressure from reaching the caliper. I going to try and change the lines. I will let everyone know how that turns out.
