Default ecklers zr1 bumper

I bought an ecklers fiberglass replica bumper. The bumper is painted and intalled. My question is when I put the license plate on with the back up lights ive noticed a gap between the light and the license plate frame. They gave me two plastic pieces that are described as fillers. Are these supposed to cover the space between the lights and license plate frame? I hope not, because it seems a little cheap. does anyone have any experience with these and does anyone have a photo of your ecklers replica bumper showing the license plate area. Thanks

here is the bumper installed along with the license plate. You can see the two black bolts and was wondering if I was supposed to use those black filler plates to put behind the license that would cover the bolts? If so, in my opinion, it would look cheap. Has anyone come up with a creative solution to this. I was thinking I would go to a machine shop and have a custom license plate cut out so that it would cover the sides better. i hope the link works!!!

I think ill go to a Metal Fabricator and have them cut me out a custom license plate frame with longer sides. I cant use those plastic filler pieces. They make the bumper look cheap

how much it cost you guys for that rear bumper? How is the quality and fit? how is the surface and how much prepping before it was ready for paint?

I bought it from Ecklers a few months ago. I forget what i paid for it but im sure its similiar to what there charging now. I paid a few hundred to have it shipped to california from florida. If you have your bumper shipped to your business its cheaper than having it delivered to your house. The bumper definitely needs fitting and some grinding. It took me about 15 to 20 hours of fitting before i was happy with it. Lots of sanding and trial fitting. Then primer and paint. Im happy with it now. I only bought it because i needed the thin molding. If i could do it again i would of just bought a used front and rear bumper and switched everything to the wide belt molding.

well I have that choice for the wide molding bumpers as well Have a deal going for 185 for a 91-up rear bumper seems though for the cost of just the ecklers rear I can almost do my whole car with used GM parts.

just went out and looked..there is a small "gap" between the license plate and the reverse lights, but nothing real significant; I just have a license plate clear cover and I have the blue GS stripe, so the liscense plate has a blue "tint" to it and my screws are painted blue as well....mine looks real nice to me personally, but I see your point...

I'm at work and don't have a close up picture, but I recall a black plastic insert under my plate that covers the area between the plate and the lights.

The 90-95 ZR-1's rear fascia/bumper was about 3 inches wider than a standard C4. That is why a ZR-1 uses a black plastic license frame that fills the gap between the license plate and the back up lamps.

Since your rear bumper cover is a ZR-1 replica that is why they included filler panels.

i wish they would of sent me something that looks like your photo, instead they sent me 2 really cheap looking plastic pieces that go on the back of the plate. In my opinion it makes it look cheap when i add the filler plates. Do you know if that one piece black plate in the picture are still available and would they fit my replica bumper? Thanks for you help!

The OEM ZR-1 rear license bezel is no longer available from GM.
White Racing Products has them for $98.00

I think GM was selling them for around $60.00
GM Part # 16509671

It's a piece of black plastic held in place by the 4 license plate screws. The bezel measures 16 inches long x 6.5 inches high.

The license plate slides into the bezel from the top.

There is 2" inches on each end (4 inches total) to compensate for the gap between the license and backup lamps. I suppose you could trim the ends to fit your opening.

Default Ecklers SUCKS

I try to buy NOTHING from ecklers. After they changed ownership a few years ago they started using corvette america fiberglass pieces. You should have gotten the same bumper from corvette america. At least they might have stoood behind it. Ecklers won't. Try calling them and see if they'll help in any way. I doubt it.

Instead of putting those black plastic pieces behind the plate I decided to have a metal fabricator make me a wider license plate. I might have it chromed or I might paint it a low gloss black and have a character or design airbrushed on the sides
