Ok lets do it...383 please...
When figuring your total cost don't forget to include labor on R&R of the motor (unless you can do it yourself) as well as other ancilliary items (custom programming, fuel system, etc.). Also don't ignore your heads/camshaft. A 383 with stock induction will not make much more power then stock - it will just do it at a lower rpm (with more torque).
I went with a cast crank and everything else forged. It and other parts together totalled around $1500. Machine work was around $600. Labor was $750 to R&R the engine, which is usually unheard of.
BTW what year do you have? A MAF car ECM will respond better to the changes. Why do you want to do a stroker (is your engine worn out), a top end setup will net you more hp.

And ya my car has 134k miles on it, and i want to add hp, but I feel the only safe way would be just to rebuild and build up.
I hear its not smart to add nos, or SC to a high milage engine.
So why not just do a rebuild and a build up?

So, doing all the work myself and shopping wisely, I should have a pretty stout car for a little over $7,300. Unfortunately, this is what it costs to go fast with a durable, reliable, matched combination.:( A lot of people don't want to admit what they have spent on their cars but that is what I have spent, so far.........

WOW! Please someone point out the bad points about that motor!
Hey does anyone make a special 383 stroker crank that doesn't require the block modifications that a true 400 crank does?
Isn't it true that when you do a 350 to 383 you have to do some sort of grinding on the inside of the block due to clearance issues of the longer stroke?
What other sorts of gory details are involved in doing a 383?
