I just put in 3.54's on my 93 A4 Coupe that previously had the stock 2.59's.
Now the ASR is cutting in more. If I turn it off, the tires just spin and I'm not going anywhere. Both are hurting acceleration. I do believe that bigger wheels and tires would help. Right now I have the stock 285/40/17 GY's on the rears. Any suggestions?
What would be the next bigger wheel/tire combo I can get that would give me better traction? Also, what would be the optimum size wheel/tire combination I could fit in my 93 and still fit reasonably in the wheel wells (a minimum of tire sticking out and not touching the inside part of the wheel wells when shocks are compressed)? Thanks.
A lot of people go with 17x9.5 in the front with 275s or 285s and 17x11 in the back with 315s, including myself. The front will fit fine. The rears will stick out 1/4 to 1/2 inch, it varies from car to car. Looking from the top of the fender, down; I can't see any tread, only a little sidewall (this is just my car). Now that I have my fender flares on, I can't see any tire. The 315s look very  Check out this company www.afswheels.com everyone seems to like them.
