I am installing a regular radio in my 1990 vette. It has the bose in it with 3 of the amps blown. Can anyone tell me how I hook up the antenna to the new radio.
Thanks & God bless
Bill
The antenna will plug into the radio antenna socket, but I doubt that the radio has the switch contacts like the Bose did to run the antenna up when on and down when off, so you will need to jump the antenna motor wires to run the antenna up and leave it up.
It sure did, but I believe (I have an 87) the 90 has a console on the dash with the tuning ***** etc. and the radio receiver located elsewhere. Follow the antenna coax to the radio! Maybe another 90 owner can tell us.
you will need the antenna extension for your new radio. I just did this conversion on my 90. There are some other things you need to do to make it work with no problems. I don't know how much you know about the conversion so I don't want to assume you don't know
Thanks guys 4 all the info.
I put the ant. adapter on but it would not let the new radio go in far enough so I wraped some electrical tape on it and put a piece of duck tape across the back just for insurance. It picks up good I finished everything today & I am very proud of it.
Thanks again
Billy
Most of the cars that had been converted, the back of the dash has been cut out to allow the depth of the new radio and the antenna to be installed. My 90 had already been set up for a aftermarket radio, so I was good to go.
