I posted this issue a few months ago. My 87 starts fine when I first start it. (after sitting a day or 2) It starts fine after turning it off for 10 or 15 minutes. But when I go on a club cruise & stop to eat somewhere & it sits for an hour or 2 I have to crank along time to start it & it kicks out a little blue smoke & runs rough for a bit. I put injectors in from Jon & it was better for awhile but now its back to the same thing. Any ideas what to try next ? Fuel pressure regulator ? Thanks for any advice !
Not being a mechanic, and therefore only giving some clues.
Blue smoke indicates burnt oil, so if it´s a high mile car, that would be something to look into, like piston rings or valve seats.
How is the oil condition otherwise, color and level?
Any codes that might indicate something?
After driving 10 or 15 minutes, the engine isn´t really warm yet, that might give you a clue here.
Other parts that get warm and give this type of trouble is the ign. coil if I haven´t misread somewhere.
As you see I only pass on what I´ve read on different forums and some of my own experiences.
Well you need to do a fuel pressure check to start with, see if its holding and how long it takes to go down. Letting it sit a day or two lets the cold start injector supply extra gas at start up, if you're losing fuel pressure after running, in a half hour sitting there could be a few things you could check.
