I 've got a drip drip coolant leak(93 sixspeed)when i shut down the car after she's hot coming from the back of the engine (dripping off the bell housing)was told that it's either a head gasket or intake gasket.First does this sound right to you guys?should i try sealer first? If i do those gaskets is there any thing else to change/any advice would help !!!!
Probably the rear of the intake. Not sure how much you can do with just some sealant. Best thing to do would be to take the intake off and redo all the intake seals.
If it is coolant it is not the intake. LT1's have dry intakes.
You problem is (hopefully) the cross over tube that attaches the two heads together in the back. They are 13mm bolts and have a metal/rubber washer on both sides of the bolt. Most likely these washers need to be replaced. Or, it is the where the crossover connects to the rubber hose next to the passenger valve cover.
If this is not the case, then your only other options for sources of coolant are the temperature sensor in the side of the passenger side head, or a head gasket let go. Worst case is a cracked block but that is not too likely.
Try cleaning the area and see if you can narrow down where the leak is originating...Drivers/Passengers side, high or low, etc.
I'll go outside and check too but will i have to remove alot to get to the tubes connecting behind the heads?sure would be alot easier if not!!!But again this gives me alot more to check before just having at the head gaskets....thankyou
