'93 Code 51, EPROM Failure?

'93 Code 51, EPROM Failure?
First off, I'm new here. Also a fairly new C4 owner. Forgive my ignorance.
So the other day I'm driving my '93 and the Service Engine Soon and Service ASR lights come on. That doesn't concern me as much as what I realized next, that the speedometer and gas gauge were both reading zero. The SYS light was also flashing every 15 seconds. I didn't notice any change in the way it drove. So after I got home I turned it off, waited 20 minutes, then drove around and the problem repeated itself after a few miles.
The next day I used a paperclip on the OBD-I port (A to B) and got a Code 51. Owner's manual says its the EPROM. Great, except that the Chevy dealer says GM discontinued them and they can't get one. I haven't found them in stock on the internet. If anyone could help me out, that would be great.
Also, I looked at Hypertech performance chips. Will buying an aftermarket performance chip, (It comes with its own PROM, that piggybacks on the stock PROM.) solve my problem?

the hyper tech won't fix your problem, try Joe Alcoke Chevrolet 250-638-6161 parts dept.,they might have a prom I got one from them 2 weeks back,ecm could be bad also ,they are just as hard to get as the prom.
