Hey guys, or Pete k, i have an 84 with the old 27 spline tranny that leaks and i want to change out, a buddy gave me a 30 spline 92' model (not sure what out of)
with high stall torque converter in it and all the heavy duty clutches and good stuff. i thought i would just use the tail shaft off my vette tranny but i just recieved my ATSG manual and Paul Zank DVD and on the front it has 5 different output shafts? and the corvette shaft im guessing is different than the one in my 92' trans, do i have to use the corvette shaft out of the older vette trans? will the output shaft work? im just a little confused here, thanks in advance! bill

also...i think the Boss Hog torque converter that is in it is a "non lock-up" should i go back to lock-up? do i have the Burger king choice? the guy said it burned up third gear or something like that, just wondering, thanks, WHERE YOU AT PETE K? hehe. hopefully you are having a good summer!
i just did a little research, since the car is just going to be driven around town in the circle route of the local Sonic and to the local gas station and back to Sonic all night long with the rest of the kids...
the non lockup converter is lighter and should launch better (2800-3300 stall) and i am not going to use it on long trips where the lockup would be nice and cut down on heat. i do have a new Dewitts alum radiator with cooler, and an external oil/tranny cooler in front of the rad, i should be ok, and the 92 30 spline is supposed to be stronger and have all the good stuff so..... i am going to proceed with the rebuild and use the tailshaft housing and the output shaft from my 84 trans and go with the 30 spline setup, (i believe Pete K said the 92 trans would be the best way to go to rebuild anyway a while back) i am pretty sure the output shaft from my 84 will fit the 92, JUST NEED THAT CONFIRMED! from a reliable source like the Petester!!
