The light on my 95 info center does not come on indicating system off when I push the ASR off button also. I have been wondering if it was bypassing the system and working properly. Any help forum members?
I have no experience in troubleshooting the system, so I can't help there.
But it's pretty easy to see if the system is working (even if your dash light isn't).
Just go out and try to spin the rear tires! If the system is working as designed, you should feel the gas pedal push back up on your foot and the rear tires stop spinning.
Also, the dash light "ASR Active" should light up at this time.
No burnouts with ASR active. Which is always the default mode.
With ASR turned off (even if dash light isn't working), you should be able to spin the rear tires at will.
Disclaimer: It is very easy to lose control of your car if your not used to the rear tires spinning, especially if your going around a corner.
The car will spin in a circle very easy, and people have slammed into curbs and done quite a bit of damage.

And it isn't a gentle reminder.
The only step up would be if GM had figured out a way to smack you in the back of the head.
When I bought my 96, I never could turn the ASR off. After doing some dash work, I realized someone had removed the bulb from the service ASR and ASR OFF spots in the DIC. For some reason it only works when its REALLY cold outside and does not work the rest of the time. Its VERY annoying to me, so I'm glad it does not work most of the time.

When I first brought it home I felt the pedal thing but now I don't. How do you diagnose the system? I like it especially when driving with my wife and wish I could turn it on and off so I can have fun when shes not in the car.
