Default Brake Upgrade kits

I'm partial to the C5 brake conversion for my '95 compared to aftermarket brands. However, I hear they do not clear factory sawblades.

Does anybody know of any quality big brake kits that will clear sawblades?

Cheers,
Will

I don't think any brake kit is going to clear sawblades without a spacer. 9.5" sawblades will clear C5 brakes with a 1/4" spacer, 8.5" require a 1/2" spacer.

Go with the optional J55 C4 heavy duty brakes. You won't need to change wheels. And all parts are GM and easily available at a lower cost.

He said he has a '95. I believe J55 was standard equipment beginning that year.

Yep, all 95's and 96's have J55's. J55's are more than adaquate for all but the hardest track abuse.

Thanks for the input, I'll save the money for other parts instead of the brakes

You can switch to Hawk HPS (or similar) pads and put on slotted rotors for more stopping power. My stock brakes started to fade after a couple passes down the 1/4mi., but now are very solid and smooth.

Don't forget to flush your brake fluid, too.
