Try some redneck engineering & this is just a WAG on my part, If the spring locks are indexed to the cap in the same location as the screw down cap cut the "L" shaped bottom off the spring locks (a whiz wheel will do nicely, don't melt the cap) to remove them & replace them with screws.

Good WAG! Yes this will work. Cut off the clamp ends, and replace with the old cap's screws. All the indexes are identical.

BTW I visited Valparasio, Chile many years ago.

Trust me.

Worst come to worst, you can install a small washer under the screw head.

I have already used this procedure when installing a red MSD cap on my 86

Let me know how it works for you, I might have to use the clear cap if it works for you. That is very cool.

I'd rather modify the cap than buy a new dist, but its not a bad idea !
Anyway for now...i did the clear coil cap only,so it shows my Accel Brute thunder
when i take the TPI Dist cover and i like it.-

I know this is a six year old thread but; I just did this and it works perfectly. I used 10x24x1 machine screws and they went right in with no problems. You could probably use a 3/4 inch screw also.
Just my experience.

Yes, you remove the clamps. You either cut or bend the bottom hooks. Then push up the springs and clamps. Then install your bought machine screws. The clamp down holes line up perfectly with screw down holes. It's a very easy conversion.
Hope this helps
