Removed LH Exhaust Manifold because I thought it had a crack in it. Turned out to be the A.I.R. Check Valve Hose to pump was split.
Cleaned up the old Exhaust Manifold and put it back on along with a new A.I.R. Check Valve and a different hose. Hose is from Catalytic Converter Repair Kit so it will take the heat.
Now it seems to throw a code once it gets up to about 184deg or so, it doesn’t immediately come on. Once it is warmed up and you shut it off and restart it, it takes a little while 5 or so minutes for it to throw a code.
Reading FSM it indicates either a problem with A.I.R. or leak in exhaust. It doesn’t say anything about an intermediate code. Strange that it has to run for a certain period of time or reach a certain temperature. Not sure how to check some of the troubleshooting points from FSM.
If it is leaking exhaust where manifold and pipe meet, it has to be a very small gap because you cannot hear any exhaust leak to feel anything either.
Anyone else run into a similar problem like this and has a fix?
Code 44 indicates the ECM "thinks" the system is lean...could be vacuum leak or bad O2 sensor or AIR valve you replaced possibly bad. I think I'd check any wiring that may have been disturbed/moved when you had the manifold off.(that is wiring related to the O2 circuit)

low fuel pressure can cause the code 44. had it happen on my firebird, that rubber line in the the fuel tank that connect to the fuel pump had a hairline crack in it. could only get like 6-8psi but this was on a TBI car. anyways thats what triggered my code 44
