What is the difference between the 1996 3.45 gear option and the performance rear end option? What ratio is the performance rear end? Also does any one know what exactly the 1996 j-55 heavy duty brake option consists of. Thanks for any help you can give me on decoding my option codes. :confused: :confused:

"Performance Rear" is just a marketing term for a higher numeric ratio then the standard rear. To determine your ratio you need to get the "G" RPO codes and decode. If you have already done that to determine 3.45 then that's what you have!
J55 option provides the 13" front rotors as apposed to the 12" in some years. I believe J55 was standard on all 96 Corvettes.
