Today I had the LT1 out, had it all warmed up, and stopped for about 15 minutes. Come out to restart it, after 3 tries it finally does, and I drive home (runs fine) with the ASR and check engine lights on. Codes pulled when I got home are 36 (ignition module) and 62 (oil temp sensor).
So, do I just replace both units, or is something else going on?
Any more guess's? I tried a new ignition module, that wasnt it. Car starts after lots of cranking, runs great once it is started, and the air condictioner is not cold(it was before this). The oil temp code (62) does not reset, just the ignition code, 36.
Dealer is backed up till middle of next week with other local dealers closing up, so I cant even get it in the shop for a while.
Thanks. I can hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds before I start it.
The oil temp sensor, is it like the coolant sensor in respect that if its defective, it will make starting difficult? I seen in my book where it turns the cold air off on the a/c.

I wouldn't suggest you leave it this way but as a test only try unplugging the sensor. I'm fuzzy on whether or not it will not start or shut down if it thinks the oil temp is that high. It sounds familiar tho.
Well its not the oil temp sensor. it reads 2120 ohms at 88 degrees, 1490 ohms at 108 degrees, so its about where it should be. Unpluged, car is still hard to start, and oil temp read out says 'LO' , just like when its very cold out side, and the a/c still blows warm.
So the dealer diagnosis's is the no high resolution pulse from the Opti. Kind of disappointing, being that the Summit unit I installed is 15 months old with about 6,000 miles on it.
I had guessed that or the ECM not getting that pulse, frankly the ECM would have been cheaper and easier to install. Oh, the joys sometimes owning a Vette.
It will be good as old as soon as I can get about 5-6 hours to work on it. Thanks to all who lend a helping hand on this site, I do appreciate it!

Did dealer check the OPTI connector (which if there is corrosion or grease/oil on the connector, could mess-up or prevent the signal from getting to the ECM causing the dealer's diagnosis)?
If not, consider checking it nonetheless, it might save all the work of removing the OPTI...
Final update. The new Summit opti installed, and it's fixed. Apparently along with the high resolution pulse not being sent, it was also telling the ECM it was running hot. A/C is working again, and the cooling fan comes on when it's supose to.
I'm banking on the first Opti just having a bad sensor in it. The good thing about having to do it again after just 15 months, it only took me 4 hours. It's really not that bad of a job, once you get all the coolant drained anyway.
