Well, after finally giving up and going in for a proper diagnosis and repair she's fun to drive again. After IAC, TPS, EGR, O2, Coil, Cap & Rotor check it came down to the injectors. Had them all replaced along with the EGR and solenoid for good measure and she's never driven better. Went with the Accels from Summit and everything went fine. Just some FYI....Frank
Besides the hunting idle, did you also have a problem restarting after the car sits for a while? Example, I start up no problem in the morning. Drive to work about 20 miles. If I take the Vette out at lunch time, I have to struggle to start her. Never been stranded with no start yet, but very sluggish starts. I have been told that this is also a sign of bad injectors. Just curious if you had a similar problem. Thanks for any help.

Re: Surgging, Hunting Idle Fixed!!!! (CG77VETTE)
Thanks to Purp for the injector solution!
CG77VETTE, hello neighbor (Westfield). I think that 3/4 hours sitting is long, but could still be the problem. Two things I would check is the resistance of the injectors (ohm meter) hot and cold; best test is a fuel pressure guage to see how quickly the fuel pressure leaks down when sitting off. Should hold pressure well for quite some time, maybe 2/3 psi in first 15 minutes and thereafter maybe 1 to 2 psi every hour. If it drops like a stone then you know it's leaking - somewhere!
As a matter of fact yes but not quite that way. I would start it up and if, on those rare occasions, I'd dump the clutch to fast and stall her she wouldn't restart for 20 to 30 minutes. Didn't matter if the engine was warm or not. Besides the EGR stuff I put in a new cap and rotor, just in case but i believe the non start thing was the injectors....Frank
