Default VIV vs. SEQUENCE NUMBER

This if for 1995 owners only at this time. Looking to resolve the difference between the VIN and SEQUENCE NUMBERS located on your build sheet. To date I have determined that there is a 94 Unit difference between the two. My VIN is 233 and my sequence number is 139. At first glance you may think that my corvette was the 233rd regular production corvette built. However, I have gotten information that the first 1995 Corvette had its serial number assigned on April 6, 1994 and that VIN number 094 was assigned on July 22, 1994. . Also I have gotten information that the last 1994 was built on Friday July 29, 1994. The plant then shut down and reopened on August 1, 1994 and the regular production of 1995 Corvettes started with number 95. I have information that my corvette VIN 233 was produced on August 4,1994. If anyone can shed some light on this question you can contact me at fuassoc@comcast.net. If you don't want to provide detailed information perhaps you can just state the differance between the two numbers. I am doing this only to satisfy my corvette question. Thanks Pat

OK, let's see if I can explain. At least this is how it works at the GM plant where I'm employed. Each vehicle is assigned a VIN number. But, there are different departments where the sequence number can change. Just an example, there are several lanes in the transition from the Paint department to the Trim department. If for some reason the vehicle is held in one of the Paint staging lanes and released into Trim out of VIN sequence. It will be assigned a sequence number in Trim that may be out of align with it's VIN number.

Make sense?
