Forged pistons stock?!?
I just pulled the pan on my '85 and all of the pistons are stamped TRW, and the number 464664 on the top. I looked this number up and it comes up as a forged piston. Thats cool! Are they of a weaker alloy or anything? Also, my rods have an "X" on them. Are these "X-rods"?? TIA

I've heard that they were forged too, but my GM service manual says that the pistons are cast aluminium alloy, pins are chromium steel and the rods are forged steel :crazy: :confused:

I had read that about the injectors in '85 being 24#. Thats great. I was considering sending them to Cruzin' for their cleaning/testing service. Anyone have good experiences with them? $10 per injector sounds like a good deal.

The rods are the same as the 86's and 87's. There was a rod change in either 89 or 90. They were actually made a little weaker in those years. They gave up some material in a effort to be lighter/save money and with that some strength was lost.
