I did a head and cam + job on my 88 I installed a SR manifold, a set of patriot heads (195 ports, 202/160 valves 64cc cch.) 1.6 roller rockers and a crane cam (214/221 duration 488/518 lift) running accel ignition and wires, 58mm Ariz/speed marine throtle body.
the car hasen't run right since, I adjusted TPS, idle a little better now but still not stable and after getting up to operating temp. the chk engine light comes on and the car runs really bad mainly in city driving have to feather the throtle to avoid stalling ect. above 3000 rpm's not too bad checked for codes, and came up with code 33 MAF , changed the MAF and it did the same thing with the new MAF sensor, I need a tuner to burn a new chip and hopefully get my car back any body in south florida ? I don't know any one doing it in c4's please help
And at his level, how long before he becomes proficient and can tune a halfway decent chip? How much time and money will he invest in that endeavor? How much use will he see after this one time in real life? I haven't tune my chip enough to justify all that expense in time and effort and trial and error and risk to my engine. I have only had a chip done less than 10 times in the last 15 years.
I guess it depends on your point of view. I prefer to do things myself. I'm not saying its easy to learn to tune your own car, but many of us have done it. It affords you the ability to try different tunes and to change your tune with future mods.
Judging by the mods he's already done, I don't think this would be an unreasonable step.
As this link does not seem to work, I guess PCMforless is the best bet.
I also will be looking in a month or so for my 89 so I'm very interested as well.
