I'm posting this for a friend with a C4...can anyone help?
In researching my '96 LT4 coupe I have found several referals to a G92 Perf Rear Ratio but I have never been able to determine what the ratio is. Does anyone know?
If all else fails, it is etched into the bottom of the housing. Lift it up a little and slide under there...the ratio that they installed in the housing will be hand etched.
Of course you could look at the RPO codes located under the rear storage bin.
I think this is a GM mystery. I have only seen the G92 RPO referenced as a "performance axle ratio".
It means the car is fitted with the optional ratio that was available for that year; it is not a "particular " ratio. In most cases the ratio is lower so it is a "performance ratio

There will be two RPO codes.
One is the G92 and tells you that it has the Perf Rear Ratio, the other tells you what that ratio is.
Yep, my 96 LT1 RPO code sticker shows G92 and G44 (3.07)

West Point ROCKS!
Is it a D36 or D44? Looking at a rear set up, VIN says its a manual with 3.07 performance gear set, but the pictures wrecking yard sent is of a D36. Did they ever put D36 in a manual car?

1984 all builds were D36!!!
What is the VIN of the car that brought you here to post? A snapshot of the rear that the 'yard' provided?
Thank you and it says on the build sheet Performance Axle Ratio but, it’s an automatic. On the build code sheet on the center console it states G44 and then G92.

Pretty simple and straight forward but you keep finding, posting to all of these very old threads. Your car G92/G44, A4 is 3.07.
There's many RPO deciphering apps out there and .pdf from many vendors including GM/ACD.
