Default Help prevent mental breakdown.......

I have been trying to get the vette ready for a road trip on the 10th of this month. Clutch went out, changed it and fuel filter. Reworked all brakes. Had to change u-joints in drive axle on pass side. Now just as I thought things were ok, it began failing to start at times. Now, it has a new starter also but still is randomly failing to start. Clutch switch seems ok. Where is the start relay located?
How often does the ignition switch fail and what is the best check?
I want so badly to take her on the trip to Nashville and then on up to Bowling Green to the museum. Please let me know suggestions on repair. I don't want her to miss the trip. Thanks.

Check to see if you are getting power to the starter when the key is turned to start. If not, check yellow wire from ignition switch when turned to start.

If no voltage on yellow wire...what then? Thanks so very much for the reply.

This sounds a lot like my 93 Ruby. Recently I replaced the brake booster. I had to remove the kickplate to get at the 2 bolts holding the booster to the firewall. After I got everything together, it would not start or even turn over. Turns out that there was a wire in the wire bundle under the dash that came unplugged. It was an odd plugin connector that plugged right into the side of another wire. I never took the trouble to trace what it was, I was just thrilled it started again.

This is a long shot, but you might check it if you take the kickplate out. Good luck.

Found it! It was the relay. It burned into its holder and was a mess to get apart. It had shorted the circuit so bad that the clutch didn't have to be pushed to start. Now with the new relay everything is back to normal. My trip to Bowling Green is still on. I really didn't want to drive the Altima on this one. LOL I can't wait to see the Corvette Museum. Thanks for all the help again. Allen
