Default Help me Pete K. please!

Had my 92 tranny rebuilt at a local shop. Seems to have done a good job but he can't get the shift points right. He says its due to a "stretched" tv cable. I adjusted the tv cable according to fsm. Shift points now are 1-2 14, 2-3 34, 3-4 54. It does not seem to be too high for the 2-3 and 3-4 sp's under lightly moderate acceleration but under slower around town driving they seem to be too high for comfy driving. Also it seems to downshift too soon froom 4-3 (around 51). After reading quite a bit of your threads I suggested that the problem might be the gov., that just seemed to make him mad. I need your help please.

A "stretched" TV cable should cause early NOT late shift points. I'd suspect TV cable sticking/binding in it's housing or the throttle valve/piston in the valve body sticking/binding. I believe GM had a bulletin pertaining to the piston binding on the 700R4(4L60) years ago.

The bulletin # was ATRATB179...came out in mid 1993.

Thanks for your help. I didn't think the cable could be the problem. This is the first rebuild I have dealt with. Should the throttlevalve have been replaced/repaired when it was disassembled? I need all the help I can get.
