FIRE FROM CAGS ELIMINATOR!!!
A small electrical fire started in the wires attached to the CAGS eliminator unit; the jury is still out as to whether it was improperly installed in the first place (leading to chafing, etc) or if it was a defective unit. I bought the car with it already installed, so I had no part of the installation.
HAS ANYONE ELSE HEARD OF THIS??? If so there's absolutely no way I'll replace it. PLEASE let me know!
being that yours is a 96, tho, there is a chance that due to the OBDII, there is a diode they add to the CAGS override that coulda shorted out, causing the fire.
the diode is there so the computer things the CAGS is working. if the fire had started while driving, it would have sent a code to the motor.
another thought, road debris could have hit it...
I would get a new CAGS override.
