I don't get on the forum too often, but when I do I always get the help I need......I am wondering if I have a problem...This afternoon I had just taken off from a red light and was cruising about 23 MPH, when I decided to smack it to the floor...it accelerated but did not downshift...I tried a couple of times from that speed, but it would not downshift...It accelerated quickly up to 50 MPH, but it never downshifted at the lower speed.....I have owned my car almost 7 years and I have never noticed that until today...Is this normal for an L98 or does my cable linkage need adjusting...I would appreciate any feedback on this~
It's normal. L98 trans shifting never was optimal vs throttle position.
You can adjust the TV cable tighter for quicker downshifting, but that usually kicks the high rpm WOT upshift too high, while at the same time stopping the throttle from opening all the way open.
and also agree the TPS should be checked. Your car should downshift at that low of a speed. I'm not sure what speed prevents downshift but I know its above 65 mph :yesnod:
