Default which intake do i need for 89 vette?

I have an 89 corvette and am getting a zz4 here in a few weeks and need to know which intake i am supposed to get. I am wanting the edelbrock hi flow tpi runner/base kit, but dont know which one to order cause they have a bunch of different versions of it.

http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/3890/10002/-1

http://www.jegs.com/i/Edelbrock/350/3893/10002/-1

one says for 85-88 engines and the other one says 89-92 engines, but both of them say for 85-91 corvette? So which one do i need to get?

The 88/ 89 split is probably because the intake bolt angle on the iron heads in the F-Bodies was changed in '89 where the alum Corvette heads didn't.

I wonder if the 85 – 88 has the cold start injector set up. I’m not sure what year they stopped using one.

I just looked on Summits website and it lists the $745 intake kit for the GM 305 TPI engine.

I've got an '88; it does have a cold start injector.

I just looked up the intakes you have listed on other sites and they are just as confusing as the ones on Jegs. I always thought that the Edelbrock #3891 set was the one to use, but now I have no idea..My suggestion is contact Edelbrock directly by phone and ask them which one will work..If they don't know who would...WW

Here is there phone (# 1-800-416-8628 ) get back to us and let us know what one they say to use..

It is all based upon if you have the 9th injector (cold start valve). I believe in 1987, they wnet with the second generation intake bolt angles (center bolt valve covers are an easy aide to verify this).

I just called Edelbrock from the number that WW7 posted, and the technician said, to order part number #350-3891 which will fit the stock 89 TPI Vette or the ZZ4.

The tech also, said part #350-3893 is for use with aftermarket heads only.

I typed in part #350-3891 on both the Summit and Jeg's websites and they are both available for $745. Summit will ship out today, Jegs will ship out in 11-18 days.

Not to throw a wrench in the works, but is a TPI intake a good match for the ZZ4? It will probably work, and I don't know anything about the ZZ4, but if it is a high RPM engine, then wouldn't putting a TPI intake on top of it limit it's potential?

I asked this question a few weeks ago because I also am getting a ZZ4 engine very soon. The response from most was get either the Miniram or a First intake, but from what I have read the Miniram will give better high end power but at the expense of low end torque. As far as the First intake I have tried going to there site for 3 weeks now and have not been able to connect. Hope they haven't gone bye bye. I have also been told to get a high flow base, SLP runners, and have Mike at Corvette Plenums mega port the plenum and siemese the runners, have the base ported and then I will have enough air flow plus I would increase the low end torque. What I am trying to do is keep the ZZ4 as close to the claimed 355 hp as I can..At this point I am still doing research and haven't made up my mind yet....WW

No more than the TPI is a match for any 350 with '113 heads. It sucks the HP out of anything.

The engines are almost identical, but for the slightly larger camshaft in the ZZ4. ZZ4 is rated with a carb and open exhaust, if they had put a TPI on it with stock manifolds the power wouldnt be too much higher than a '91 makes. Ballpark difference of 10-20hp.
