Trouble staying at idle after engine gets Hot. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!
I have been having trouble with my vehicle running bad or stallling after engine gets hot. I can start it cold and it will run great and pull hard. After running it for a while getting it real hot, i can park it. When I try and restart it, i Have to put the gas pedal down to keep it running or it will die out. The engine has a ZZ-4 Cam with 1.6 Harlem Roller Rockers. I pulled all the emissions off including welding the exhaust manifold ports. I have blocks offs for the EGR Valve and the cold start. I have changed everything in the distributor coil, ingnition module,pick-up,etc...
I changed all sensors, and both relays for the Mass Air Flow power up and burn off relays. The timinig was set by a mechanic shop. After the timing was set it ran awesome and pulled harder, but after it gets really hot and i try and restart it if it's at idle it will die. Kind of like it has a vapor lock. I replaced the fuel filter and cleaned out all fuel lines. I have new fuel injectors from FIC . The only thing i didn't change is the fuel regulator. Me and a friend did a vaccum check on the fuel regulator and if checked o.k. If you have any suggestions to help me out, i would sure appreciate them. This is driving me crazy. It has a Hypertech chip also. Thanks.
One thing you can check is the IAC, the pintle could be sticking once the engine is hot.( if its heavily gummed up they can do this) I don't see anywhere in your post about checking this and its one of the main components that effects idle..Good Luck...WW

Or maybe the IAC is good but simply out of adjustment?
