Default Dipstick tube question.

The block I plan on using for my rebuild is a 3970010 casting. It is an earlier block, 2 bolt, and has a high nickel content. I found that by the markings on the front. It is stamped "10/20", which turns out to mean 10% tin and 20% nickel. Anyway, the dipstick is on the driverside, the original was on the passenger. Do any of you foresee any problems with this? TIA..

I am using a 79, 4-bolt main truck block and have the dipstick on the drivers side now. Picked up the Lokar billet dipstick for it, works well. I running TPIS headers though, don't know if it will be a problem with stock header air tubes. Centainly, anything could be adjusted and I wouldn't hesitate getting the block for that reason. HTH

Did you use the oil pan from the truck? The block I have didn't have a pan on it, so I need to know what will work. Thanks a lot.

Get a good road race pan. I got mine from http://www.champpans.com. Give them a call. They were $100 cheaper than Canton or TPIS and it is a great pan. Very high quality.
