Default Ai response

This is what I got back from them after inquiring about a package for my car. I'm not exactly sure of the final price but the base package is 1995.00 and includes the cam. I will find out more though.

I have been looking to get a head cam package for my '96 LT1 Corvette. I
want to be able to be emissions friendly yet still produce as much hp as I
can. Your 190 CNC'd Street/Strip package with appropriate cam looks like
what I'm after. My car has a A4 tranny with 2800 stall converter and stock
bottom end. Mileage is 96K. I have Stainless Works 1 5/8 headers into a
Corsa exhaust system on the car now and would like to keep them rather than
buying new 1 3/4. The rear gear is 3.07 in a Dana 36. What kind of time
frame is involved with your process of redoing my heads and grinding a
custom cam? Also, what kind of hp can I expect from this package? I run my
vette a handful of times a year at Rockingham. Other than that it is just a
weekend car but still go on short trips of 300 miles or less round trip
every now and then. Being so close I would probably just deliver my heads
and pick up when complete. Also, do you think this is the correct package to
use?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Either the 190 or 200cc CNC'd gm head is going to be hard to beat in
regards to value. The 190cc head has the same chambers and exhaust ports as
the 200cc head, and is typically 10-15hp lower than the 200's. While either
head has made 390-410rwhp SAE innumerable times with daily drivable cams in the
224-230deg int. range, my inclination would be to sacrifice a little up top for
your setup. With the tall gear, low rpm converter, and application you'd
likely be happiest with one of our smaller 21X-224deg int. duration grinds that
focus more on the 2000-6000rpm range, sacrificing 15-20hp above 6000rpm. We'll
be swapping back to LT fixturing around the end of next week, so if you
decided to go with us we'd be able to get them turned around relatively
quickly. If you'd like a formal quote in.pdf format including supporting valve
train and gaskets, let us know. Thanks for your interest, Mike!

For 2k (actually less)you could get a better head. AI does do a good job on the stockers though.

My issue is I need to stay with a D exhaust port so I won't have to buy another set of headers. Also running the baby Dana I'd be affraid to get much over 400 hp.

Talkto TPI421Vette on the heads, bet theres enough left over to buy a cam.
On headers the shape doenst matter as long as it covers the head port.

Does the 2k include gaskets, correct length pushrods, etc?

Howdy stranger. That's one of the things I have to find out Pete. I'm going to request a quote just to see what is included.

Glad to be back

It is always the small stuff that seems to kill the budget. It that price includes the timing chain and gears, and all the little do-dad's.
2k sounds like a fair deal, for a nice package.

Have the AI200's on my LT1 and it included the pushrods (at least they did 2 years ago). You will have to assemble then measure and let them know the length.

I could not be happier with their product or service.

Most Corvette owners have to have "the best". There are a few options out there. That's why its good to visit other LT1 forums to get some different views. Ask people that have tried different packages about their experiences. Look for time slips, dyno numbers, etc. Customer service is also extremely important, IMO.

Looked......? See, this is my problem. I've never heard of them. There are so many out there to choose from. So many that seem to fit my purpose. I guess I'm just going to have to decide on one and go with it. I just want to know I'm not going to **** away this money on something that sucks. I will check them out though, thanks

Id like to think that most would do it once and want the best but it seems most Vette owners nowadays want the cheapest. (not referring to anyone in this thread). Just look at all the hack fixes that go on here.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you haven't heard of Brodix you need to do some more research. There are a few top tier SBC head providers out there, Brodix is one of them.

My point exactly. I don't mind spending what it takes within reason but at the same time I don't need another hole in my butt either.
