EGR question
I can apply vacum directly to it with a vacum pump, when it is not running and it will hold. As soon as I start it up, it will drop to zero. With it running and using the pump, vacum is zero. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jay

I had an idle issue and searched for everything and went through the EGR. I had a faulty valve. The valve can be stuck or open. I think it is possible to see by applying vaccum if the valve opens or not. There can be debris on the valve seat not making the valve closing.
Another thing is. Does the EGR solenoid work properly. If you have the repair manual. Do go throught the procedure and see if it works alright. And also check if the vacuum lines are not broke because those stiff ones under the plenum is very sensitive for brakage because they are so old. I had a couple that was broke. good luck
The EGR solenoid is placed on the right side of the engine back near thewall.
