Hi, Yea i know i have a Crossfire vette and its the worst in the world.. Anyways just to clear that up, I am having trouble with it. My problem is that my car doesn't want to start at all in the mornings. SO i figured my ignition module was going bad, I changed it and now it starts but, now it wont start after the 5th try.. I opened the air intake to see if I had fuel spray and nothing, neither did I have spark. My guess is that I have a sensor that is bad or something? Something that is preventing the computer from normally operating the engine and allowing fuel and spark rite? It just cranks and no fuel or spark, But if i disconnect the battery and connect it back it works again, well somethimes..but now i have to take of the ignition module and put it back again in order for the car to turn on!!!.. Weird.. Oh and the car cranks because the idiot that had it before me wired it straight to the starter with a push button. somebody help
So you turn the key on and then push the starter button? Are you sure the key is turning the ignition, fuel pump etc on? Maybe the problem with the ignition switch has gotten worse.
well I turn the ignition key to the on position.. then i push the crank button and thats how i start the car.. I am going to buy a shop manual book so that I can rewire the car back to original.. So far i have replaced O2 sensor, fuel pump spark plug cables and wires ignition coil and ignition module..
Hi, Yea i know i have a Crossfire vette and its the worst in the world.. :
First off thats and untrue statement. Many 84's out there can out run stock LT1's and are one of the most reliable setups.
Personally a vette is a vette regardless of year or motor. Its a Gen 1 small block just like any other.

First thing you should buy is a FSM for the 84. You can purchase it from Helminc.com. Best manual to have.
Second without knowing exactly how your wiring is its gonna be a bit tough to diagnose. If you have any chance to put it back to orginal would be best.
yea i guess your rite, I just brought that up because alot of people think they are the worst. I personally like mine, its a z51 4+3. the ride is not so good, but its still ok to drive.. I just want to fix whats going on here. I picked up a 1984 corvette Shop manual. So i will try to figure out whats going on here. Also im finding out that my knock sensor is not connected.. DAm !!

100 %. I like all vettes. Each year model is improvement in the devolopment of the corvette. Every year vette is good. JMO...........I remember back when the 84 corvette came out. Everyone loved them. I think the 84 is a special year. 1st year C4. Must have been good. They contunied on that platform for 12 years.
Again, JMO.................... People that tell you your car is no good are known as "Corvette Queers". They have no life and no personality, so the buy a vette to show us "thier" vette is better. I find humor when I go to a car show for classic muscle cars, and there is some RUB there with his C6 vette.
My 89 vette has the horrible L98 truck engine option. I like it. Enjoy your vette.
When you first turn the ignition on, can you hear the fuel pump run for a second or two?
yea i hear the pump turning on.. So i took of the the intake cap to see if it would at least spray but nothing it just cranks..do i maybe have a faulty ECM or something? But it seems like it is a sensor that disables spark and fuel once it realizes that something is not working

Ok, so you hear the pump turn on... good.
Take a pressure gauge and locate it between the two tb's. When you turn the ignition on is there pressure? It should read between 9-13 psi.
then after a couple of seconds if you don't start the car the pressure will then drop back to zero.
Note: When's the last time the fuel filter was replaced? not saying its the problem but may want to consider looking at.
Hey, yea I also replaced the fuel filter when I replaced the fuel pump.. Oh i had to disconnect the EST or ESC electronic spark control i believe that's what its called, correct me if i am wrong. SO yea i disconnected it to check my timing, it is at 6BTDC before top dead center.. But when i connect the cable back, it will turn on idle for a bit then suddenly spark dies and i just hear and see the injectors spray with the engine dead. HMM wierd so my problem certainly must be electronic rite.?
^^I would say yes, you have an electrical gremlin somewhere in that system....I think the ignition switch originally mentioned could be the circuit that is causing the shorts in your car......I'm sorry...I just feel in my gut that this is the issue.
You'll notice after time that GM wired the car sort of strangely. When one fuse blows, other systems malfunction that you would think had nothing to do with that blown fuse. You replace it and everything starts going again.
I'd dive into that ignition switch and take that push button crap off.....that was the POs band aid that he tried to place over a Cancer legion......looked OK for a while....didn't cure anything
